Gross Description -- Pulmonary Hypertension

GROSS DESCRIPTION:

At autopsy, the heart was massively enlarged (1000g), with markedly thickened biventricular chambers. Examination of the heart revealed a congenital cardiac anomaly which had been corrected surgically. The origins of the pulmonary artery and the aorta are examined and are shown above. Examination of the liver showed diffuse well-circumscribed 0.5-1cm tan pale areas. A portion of the surgical correction of the anomaly is identified and shown above.
