FNA Cytology -- Anterior Mediastinal Mass

FNA Cytology:

Cytologic smears show a cellular neoplasm composed predominantly of spindle shaped cells with some polygonal shaped cells. The cells have finely granular chromatin and inconspicuous nucleoli. Immunocytochemistry reveals the tumor cells to be positive for AE1/AE3 cytokeratin and synaptophysin and negative for polyclonal CEA and calcitonin.
