Gross Description -- A 62 year old female with progressive abdominal/pelvic pain

GROSS DESCRIPTION:

The resection specimen consisted of a partial sacrum-complete coccygeal specimen measuring 11.5 x 8.7 x 8.0 cm (longitudinal sections, Figures 5 and 6). The central portion of the specimen was occupied by a large, lobulated and focally cystic tumor measuring 7.0 x 5.5 x 2.5 cm grossly. The tumor destroyed approximately 40% of the sacral bone and extended both ventrally and dorsally from the contours of the sacrum so that approximately 2/3 of the bulk of the tumor was located anterior to the sacrum. Approximately 30% of the tumor was cystic or necrotic
