Gross Description -- Right Neck Mass


GROSS DESCRIPTION:

The specimen was labeled as excision of right neck mass and was received in two parts. Part 1 was labeled " right auricular mass", consisted of an ellipse of brown-black skin, 3.5 x 2.0-cm with 0.8 cm. underlying fibrous tissue. Three raised nodules were present on the surface of the skin measuring 0.1 x 0.4 x 0.9 cm. The mid size nodule had an ulcerated surface. On the deep side of the specimen gelatinous red material is noted consistent with necrosis.

Part 2 was labeled "right submandibular mass" and consisted of an ellipse of skin measuring 0.5 x 0.6-cm with underlying fibrofatty tissue. In the center of the ellipse was a raised nodule with poorly demarcated borders, measuring 0.4 x 0.3 x 0.1 cm.
