Gross Description -- Sepsis


GROSS DESCRIPTION:

The surgical specimen consisted of an 11.0 cm segment of terminal ileum, a 7.0 cm appendix, and 148 cm of cecum and colon. The cecum and colon were diffusely covered by pseudomembranes consisting of yellow, raised, exudative plaques.
