Microscopic Description -- Early Intrauterine Loss of Twin B


MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION:

Disc A: The villi are small and well developed and contain numerous syncytial knots with good vasculosyncytial membranes. There is reactive amnion with moderate meconium containing macrophages. The umbilical cord is unremarkable.

Disc B: There is complete hyalinization of the villi and extensive loss of fetal vessels.
