Microscopic Description -- Anemia and Abdominal Pain

MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION:

The adrenal gland is surrounded in part by brown fat and is unremarkable. The mass lesion consists of numerous regressively transformed follicles. These follicles show marked layering of small lymphocytes and plasma cells in an "onion-skin" fashion, surrounding a central hyalinized vessel. There is an interfollicular proliferation of small lymphocytes and numerous vessels which also display some hyalinization. Rare foci of plasmacytoid monocytes are seen. There are focal fibrous bands transecting the lesion.
