Case 294 -- An 80 Year Old Woman with a Left Breast Mass

CLINICAL HISTORY:

The patient is an 80-year-old woman who presented with a single, palpable, irregular mass in the left breast.

GROSS DESCRIPTION:

The specimen received fresh consists of a segmental mastectomy, measuring 9.0 X9.0 X 5.0 cm. An ellipse of skin measuring 6.7 X 1.5 X 0.2 cm is attached. On cut surface, a discrete, irregular, gray-white mass is identified measuring 2.5 X 2.3 X 2.3 cm. This mass is located 0.8 cm from the nearest margin of surgical resection.
