Research Interests

Dr. Yechoor's research program focuses on developing targeted therapies that target beta cell mass and function in the pathogenesis of diabetes. He has a long record of external funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Veterans Administration, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the American Diabetes Association. His currently funded projects include 1) the role of the circadian clock in beta cell stress adaptation, and 2) the role of Tead1 in the transcriptional regulation of quiescence and proliferation of beta cells. More recently, he has extended his research into adipose tissue and cardiac muscle biology.
