Brain Pathology Case of the Month - May 1996

Gross Description

Gross examination revealed a nodular, darkly pigmented mass approximately 1.5 cm in greatest diameter. The cut surface had multiple concentric thin-walled layers similar to a sliced onion and was heavily pigmented. The outer surface was more dense and gave the appearance of a pseudo-capsule. Small fragments were removed for ultrastructural studies. These fragments were wafer thin.
