Brain Pathology Case of the Month - July 1997


GROSS DESCRIPTION:

External examination of the brain showed no grossly identifiable abnormalities. Coronal sections through the cerebral hemispheres showed focal softening of the genu of the corpus callosum and left cingulate gyrus with thickening of the overlying leptomeninges. Affected tissue was swollen, creamy white, and focally lytic.
