GROSS DESCRIPTION:
The specimen is received fresh labeled "rectal mass" and consists of a 6.5 x 4.0 x 0.3 cm portion of rectum with flattened, unulcerated mucosa. The underlying wall demonstrates a nodular, firm, 1.1 cm area which displays white sclerotic tissue on cut section.
