Clinical Expertise

Dr. Swerdlow's expertise is in hematopathology with an emphasis on lymph node and related tissue diagnostic hematopathology using a multiparameter approach that incorporates morphology, flow cytometric and immunohistochemical phenotype, cytogenetic, molecular, and clinical data. He is also responsible for oversight of the Division's varied clinical activities that include general hematology laboratories, a flow cytometry laboratory, and a variety of diagnostic services.

Research Interests

Some current areas of investigation include multiparameter investigations of select cutaneous B-Cell lymphomas, high grade B-cell lymphomas including the "double hit" lymphomas and B-lymphoblastic neoplasms, and varied subsets of small B-cell lymphomas. More recently he also been involved with issues related to pathology education and assesment at the postgraduate level. He remains actively involved in developing and reviewing the classification of lymphoma.
