OVERVIEW OF DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES
The UPMC Clinical Virology Laboratory offers a wide range of viral culture, immunologic and molecular diagnostic test procedures for the identification of viruses and Chlamydia.
The laboratory provides a comprehensive consultation service to assist clinicians in choosing appropriate tests and interpreting results. Clinical excellence is promoted in an environment where the latest diagnostic test procedures are integrated into diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of the patient. We also refer specimens to appropriate laboratories for the detection of unusual viruses, Mycoplasma and Rickettsia.
