Research Interests:
Dr Kuan's research interests are centering around the expression of various mucin genes in normal and malignant cells. He is also interested in the oncogenic pathways of colon adenoma-carcinoma sequence. His research projects include:
- Regulation of mucin gene expression in normal, preneoplastic and neoplastic cells and tissues.
- Use of mucin genes as markers for cancer progression and prognosis.
- Use of mucin genes as tissue-specific markers for tumor of unknown primary site.
- The chromosomal instability pathway of colon adenoma-carcinoma sequence.
- The microsatellite instability pathway of : colon hyperplastic polyp - serrated adenoma -carcinoma sequence.
