Research Interests:

Dr. Krasinskas is a surgical pathologist with subspecialty training in gastrointestinal and liver pathology. Her main area of research interest is pancreatic neoplasia, which involves the development of molecular and immunohistochemical assays for the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of pancreatic neoplasia, including ductal adenocarcinoma, mucinous cystic lesions, pancreatic endocrine neoplasms. Additional interests include: (1) differentiating intrahepatic from extrahepatic cholangiocarcinomas using molecular and immunohistochemical techniques and defining possible precursor lesions for each type of tumor, including dysplasia in primary sclerosing cholangitis, infection with Helicobacter pylori and other inflammatory states, including inflammatory pseudotumors; (2) defining the molecular characteristics of appendiceal mucinous neoplasms; and (3) studying HER2 amplification in colorectal and pancreatic cancers. She is also involved in collaborative research projects with clinical colleagues, including the detection of metastatic disease in the lymph nodes of patients with esophageal cancer and imaging whole explanted livers with and without hepatocellular carcinomas.
