Research Interests:

Dr. Habib-Bein is interested in Clinical Microbiology. She worked at Egypt's Central Public Health Laboratory, US Naval Medical Research Unit #3, Wayne State University and Yale-New Haven Hospital. Her research areas included rapid diagnosis of Salmonella, Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Influenza A virus, shiga toxin regulation, evaluation of extended-spectrum -lactamases, susceptibility patterns of Streptococcus pneumoniae, as well as clinical trials of antimicrobials.

A second area of interest is cytopathology with performance and interpretation of fine needle aspiration biopsies.
