Research Interests:
Dr. Demetris' interests include the immunobiology of chronic rejection and tolerance induction and the role of cytokines in growth control of biliary epithelium. Current research projects include: development of experimental animals and human protocols to enhance hematolymphoid chimerism and tolerance to solid organ allografts; pathophysiology of chronic rejection; and the role if IL-6 in biliary epithelial cell biology and chronic liver disease.
