I. MISSION STATEMENT

The cytopathology fellowship at UPMC is a broad-based experience in all aspects of both exfoliative and aspiration cytopathology in a large academic tertiary care setting of the UPMC Health System. This is a nationally competitive and highly regarded cytopathology fellowship recognized by the quality of recruited fellows, individual research productivity during training, success in passing subspecialty board examination, and academic job placement on completion of the program. The program stresses a multiparameter modern approach cytopathology combining standard cytomorphologic techniques with data obtained from ancillary immunohistologic, in situ hybridization, flow cytometric, molecular and cytogenetic investigations.
