MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION:
Sections showed abnormal brain with rarefaction, numerous reactive astrocytes, foamy histiocytes and an inflammatory infiltrate around some vessels. No Cowdry type A inclusions were present, however, some glial nuclei appeared abnormal. A diagnostic stain was obtained.
