SECTION OF LABORATORY MEDICINE

Clinical Immunopathology

The Division of Clinical Immunopathology provides laboratory tests to assist in the detection of autoimmune and immunodeficiency diseases, to detect protein abnormalities, and to conduct serologic diagnosis of infectious diseases.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Maintains an active consultation service to assist in the interpretation and application of clinical laboratory immunology tests

  • Conducts extensive research to evaluate mechanisms by which normal immune system function can be maintained during aging to delay the onset of immune-related diseases that occur during the aging process

  • Studies the influence of behavior on the immune system and the associa-tions among impaired immune function, increased risk of developing infectious diseases, and stress-associated behavioral practices
