OB/GYN/Perinatal Pathology Services Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC is the largest private nonprofit institution in the United States exclusively dedicated to the welfare of women, the unborn fetus, and newborn babies. It is the country's third largest oncology center treating tumors of the breast and female genitalia. Tumor diagnosis and complete laboratory services at Magee-Womens Hospital are provided by fourteen board certified professionals with expertise in gynecological surgical pathology, cytology and gynecologic laboratory medicine. In 1993, 18,300 gynecological surgical pathology specimens were examined, as well as 86,000 cytological samples including 3,000 fine needle aspirates, 300 stereotactic biopsies of the breast, and more than 600,000 chemical, bacteriological, and hematological tests.
