Research Project Information

My project will focus on elucidating the role of platelate derived growth factor receptor α (PDGFR α) during liver development and regeneration. We hypothesize that PDGFRα regulates liver development and also proliferation. This hypothesis was based on the finding by our lab that shows that levels of PDGFRα was significantly elevated during the early stages of liver development and then was significantly reduced during the later stages of liver development. In addition, PDGFRα was shown to be elevated in about 70 percent of cancers.
