Microscopic Description -- Pelvic Mass

MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION:

The microscopic architecture is papillary, cystic, and tubular with focal solid areas. The epithelial cells lining these structures are secretory columnar cells, polyhedral clear cells with distinct cell borders, eccentric rounded or angular nuclei and prominent nucleoli. "Hobnailed" cells with large apical nuclei with scant eosinophilic or clear cytoplasm, were also seen. Also noted within solid areas of tumor are tubular structures lined by one or two layers of clear cells, hobnail cells, and cuboidal cells with minimal atypia in a dense fibrous stroma.
