Gross Description -- Spinal Mass


GROSS DESCRIPTION:

The specimen is received in formalin in four parts.

Part 1:

Part 1 is labeled "bronchus coli". It consists of two irregular fragments of soft, pink-gray, focally cauterized tissue measuring 1.5 x 0.8 x 0.5 cm. and 1.6 x 0.6 x 0.4 cm. They are totally submitted in cassette 1A.

Part 2:

Part 2 is labeled "T1 tumor". It and consists of multiple irregular fragments of tan-pink hemorrhagic, focally cauterized soft tissue with intermixed fragments of bone measuring 6.0 x 5.2 x 1.0 cm. in aggregate. Representative sections are submitted in three cassettes, some following decalcification.

Part 3:

Part 3 is labeled "T2-T3 disc material". It consists of multiple irregular fragments of white-tan focally hemorrhagic fibrous tissue and intermixed fragments of bone, 2.0 x 1.0 x 0.5 cm. in aggregate. The specimen is totally submitted in cassette 3 following decalcification.

Part 4:

Part 4 is labeled "C6-C7 disc material". It consists of multiple irregular fragments of white fibrous tissue, with intermixed fragments of bone measuring 2.2 x 1.8 x 0.6 cm. in aggregate. Representative sections are submitted in cassette labeled 4A following decalcification.
