Gross Description -- Left Neck Mass


GROSS DESCRIPTION:

The specimen is received fresh, labeled with the patient's name and designated "neck mass, left" and consists of two lymph nodes and adherent fascia, the overall specimen having dimensions of 4.5 x 2.5 x 1.5 cm. Each lymph node has a greatest dimension of 3.0 and 1.5 cm. Cross sectioning through the lymph node shows partially hemorrhagic lymphoid tissue. The majority of the node is composed of firm rubbery, tan-white parenchyma. A portion of the specimen is submitted for culture and an additional segment is bulk frozen.
