Ultrasound -- chronic hypertension

The right kidney is small, measuring 6.9 cm in length. Cortical atrophy is identified. The transverse images of the kidney demonstrate the cortical diameter to be 0.8 cm, a finding consistent with the above mentioned cortical atrophy. The resistive indices within the right segmental renal arteries are normal (0.57).

The left kidney demonstrates normal echotexture. No hydronephrosis, nephrolithiasis, perinephric fluid collection, or abnormal renal mass is identified. The left kidney itself measures 10.6 cm in length. The resistive indices within the segmental and main renal artery on this side are normal.

IMPRESSION:

1. SMALL RIGHT KIDNEY WITH CORTICAL ATROPHY AS DESCRIBED.

2. NORMAL LEFT KIDNEY.
