The specimen is received unfixed labeled "gallbladder" and consists of a 6.5 x 3.0 x 1.3 cm. gallbladder. The serosal surface is light tan and glistening. The surface opposed to the liver is light tan and roughened. There are no gross abnormalities on the external aspect. Opening the specimen reveals dark green viscous bile. The mucosal surface is green and velvety with multiple adherent soft yellow "polypoid stones" that resist being rubbed off and do not appear to block the neck of the gallbladder. Representative sections are submitted.
