Gross Description -- A Firm Mass on the Left Frontal Region


GROSS DESCRIPTION:

The specimen consisted of a concave fragment of skull bone with an ovoid mass centrally attached to its internal surface. The bone fragment was tan and measured 9.0 x 8.5 x 0.5 cm. The external surface was remarkable for a 2.0 x 1.5 cm area of softening. The internal surface of the bone beneath this area of softening was tan-pink and expanded, measuring 2.7 cm in thickness. An encapsulated mass was attached to this region, measuring 5.5 x 5.0 x 2.8 cm. The cut surface of the mass was tan, lobulated and homogeneous.
