Lab announces new testing protocols
New PCR test for quantitation of cytomegalovirus
* New blood collection tubes for cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection and disease testing - Becton Dickinson yellow-top, acid citrate dextrose tubes should be used to collect blood samples for CMV testing. These 8.5-milliliter tubes can be ordered through Central Stores (No. 0011035). Each pack holds 100 glass tubes.
It is optimal to transport the specimen within 30 min to the laboratory. If this is not possible, keep the specimen at room temperature until transport.
This change is effective immediately.
