The Pathology Post-doctoral Research Training Program - PPRTP
Seminar Series

The last PPRTP seminar was held on February 28, 2003. Cinda Herndon-King from the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse spoke at noon about the interaction of the PLSG with business and academia in the Pittsburgh community.

The eleventh PPRTP seminar was held on December 6, 2002. A representative from Cellomics spoke about this exciting company that is headquartered in Pittsburgh.

The tenth PPRTP seminar was held on October 11, 2002. Carl Gordon from Orbimed in New York City spoke on how an advanced Science degree can be used to make a living in the investment world.

Our ninth seminar was held on April 19, 2002. The speaker was Dr. Henry Brzeski from the Windber Research Institute in Windber, PA. Dr. Brzeski spoke about the direction his institute is going in as they expand and form collaborations with nearby hospitals.

Our eighth seminar was held on February 8, 2002. The speaker was Tom Petzinger, Scientific Director of LaunchCyte (a bioinformatics company).

The seventh seminar was held on December 7, 2001. Dr. Alan Russell, Director of the McGowan Center for Regenerative Medicine, presented valuable information about the McGowan Institute and informed us about it's future direction and accomplishments.

The sixth seminar was held on September 14, 2001. Maryann Donovan - Peluso, M.P.H., Ph.D. from Precision Therapeutics, Inc. gave an over view of the Precision Therapeutics Developmental and Pharmaceutical Services.

The fifth seminar was held on Friday, May 11, 2001. Dr. S. Robert Fatora from Demegen, Inc. gave a discussion titled "Demegen - A Pittsburgh Biopharmaceutical Company."

The fourth seminar was held on Friday, March 9, 2001. Dr. George Fechter, Associate Vice Chancellor, External Relations Health Sciences, gave everyone more insight about the McGowan Center and it's Clinical and Research focuses.

The third seminar was held on Friday, January 19, 2001. Dr. Ronald Herberman discussed "Current Status and Future plans for the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute."

The second seminar was held on Friday, December 8, 2000. Dr. Dan Farkas discussed research opportunities at PTEI.

The first of several PPRTP Seminar Series was held on Friday, November 14, 2000. The meeting was a success with approximately 25 Postdoctoral fellows in attendance. The four current PPRTG recipients (Aaron Bell, Kelly Jordan-Scuitto, Paul Monga, and Junwei Yang) presentations were received with much interest by the audience.
